I agree with "he will not starve". But you can also buy some chicken broth and pour just a very small amount (it doesn't take much to get the smell on there) on his food each feeding. A little warm water and fat free chicken broth just may get those taste buds flowing.
 
I was giong to say chicken broth, but someone beat me to it! You can always just cook up a big pot of broth and keep it in the fridge. You can make broth from the left overs of just about any meat too, which is great.

My cattle dog doesn't eat sometimes. We can leave his food out all day and he'll just eat a piece or two. He usually does this when it is very hot and then when it cools off he'll scarf down the food. Sometimes my mom gives him some wet food when it is on sale and he likes that. He's mostly an outside dog though, so it doesn't matter to us if he smells LOL
