Healthy 3yo black Jersey Giant.. w/extra nail?

w/second toenail growing out of nail bed (it seems?) is this a breed thing? My buff orpington rooster (same age, 3yo) does not have this growth. Any ideas? I got absolutely nothing while googling this matter. Thank in advance y’all.
Forgot to mention, both of his feet are like this! Same exact toe and growth. Soo confused.

He’s a little over 3 years old, if that is the case I wonder why would it just start growing in now? Thanks for your input!

Not a breed-specific thing. Just a weird thing that happens on occasion.

I would not hatch chicks from that chicken, because there is a chance the trait could be passed on to its offspring.

But if the extra nails do not bother the chicken, I would not worry about them.

The nail doesn’t bother him, I’m confident he is a happy, strong boy who walks around great!
