Heard the egg song for the first time :)

My EE started squatting 2-3 weeks ago, and laid her first egg 5 days ago, so yours are very close to laying. Our days are shortening also, but that didn't seem to stop Goldie.

Every time one of my hens started squatting I had an egg from them with in a week, it's the number one sign in my eyes!!

Yes...I got told that's what they do when they are laying and a cockerel comes near them. They think we are the cock and they squat, it's quite funny. But soon as I see my hen squat I know I'm getting an egg )) I love it when I see one squat!

We got our first egg today!!! So exciting! They have been a little flighty (pun intended) but this egg laying has made them quite submissive. We are able to give them a good pet now.

I hear it constantly. My rooster,Wade, sometimes joins in too. I tell him it's a girls call and that he should be embarrassed. Then he crows!

my barred rock has been singing the songs for the other girls even when she is not at the moment laying is that normal

I think its normal! Sometimes more than one of my girls will join in, even the rooster! You would think something terrible was going on in the barn from the ruckus, only to find that someone laid an egg and everyone is excited about it!! Crazy chickens!
