Hearing Major Aircraft Overhead Lately...

I live just outside DC and periodically they will do a surveillance grid out here. Just post 9/11 I was living at the place in Maryland where they turned into the next pass - EVERY day at 0618. I wouldn't doubt that security is up for next week.

I am sure it is extra security. We live a good bit aways from DC by car but not by air! Over the last few weeks we have seen attack helicopters in three man squadrons doing what look like maneuvering training runs through our valleys. I asked a local cop about it and he said if it bothered us we could coplain I said "Heck no tell em to scoop through my yard the kids'll wave at 'em. Let 'em see if they can target the dog!!"

Well, sure enough the next day! (!) a group of three came through really low over the treetops and swept down into the valley. They were cruising really slow. I took the kids outside and we waved at them and they went straight up from the valley floor to level with the front of the house and waved back!

I figure I want to make sure they're on MY side!!

(truthfully, I am glad they are cause those birds are scary!)

Where I live we are so far back into the boonies that I never hear an airplane. quite a change from living in nashville 2 miles from Nashville International. windows shaking and dishes vibrating in the cabinets. Felt like the roof would come off any minute.
On a clear night I can go outside and look toward the north and see what I thought was a flying saucer, but turns out to be the flight path to Nashville. You have to look closely and squint your eyes because it sure does go up high. To the south east there is a small light with a little red on it that might be going to Atlanta. dunno.
They have no sound down here in the hills and valleys. yey
I dont know of any reason anyone would want to bomb this place so I dont worry about that very often. but the fall out could reach us in a year or so..
A while back about 10 pm I heard what sounded like the end of the world coming. I ren out onto the front porch and looked west and there was many large vehicles flying south west. They were very low in the sky and they were dark and they had NO lights on them. NOT ONE. This scared me very much. I could see the sky over them and only their outline since it was not a pitch black night.
I never did find out what this was and since I didnt maybe it was not an intursion. surely someone knew about them somewhere and since they were not blown away i guess we were secure.

They were doing more live bombing runs again today. I heard the planes screaming pretty low.

If they have no identifying marks like a tail number, be very afraid.
