This duck has been seen on and around the pond for the past year and a half. She has always had difficulty walking but is able to swim fine. She'd always appeared to be in good condition and a healthy weight until the last 2 months. 4 or 5 males have been viciously trying to mate her on the water and she seemed to be in distress. No, this is not normal mating encounter as as with other males and females on the pond. A friend was recently able to catch her on the bank. Her feathers were plucked in large areas, skin was raw and red and she was filthy dirty, eye was matted closed, shivering, mostly unresponsive. Surprisingly, after a bath and a warm box she was up eating, running around and acting 'normal' within a few days. We attempted to check her heart rate and respitation but had no idea what it should be. Her eye was treated and she was dewormed BTW, 'Luck Charm' now lives happily as an only duck on a farm with chickens, goats and cows.

:welcome Well done. Had she not been saved, drakes gang breeding her would very likely have killed her. It's not all that uncommon a happening.
