Heart Breaking..5 Days Old & DIES IN MY HANDS

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KIND AND COMFORTING THOUGHTS. ALL THOUGH I GET SO EMOTIONAL WHEN I THINK ABOUT MY LOSS, IT IS VERY COMFORTING TO HAVE PEOPLE WHO DON'T REALLY KNOW ME SAY SUCH NICE THINGS & FOR THIS I KNOW SOMETIMES THINGS JUST HAPPEN AND I'LL GET OVER IT. I'M NOT A DRAMA PERSON & THINGS NORMALLY DON'T UPSET ME LIKE THIS. ~I WANT TO SAY SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS OR MISHAPS TO EVERYBODY WHO GONE THROUGH SOMETHING BAD OR SAD. THANKS AGAIN, ~Julie~

So sad . The same thing happened to me this am, but my was just a few hours old. I had to help or atleast try but I think I may have ultimately contributed to the poor little things death. He was still in the bator and I checked this am and he was chirping and was out of the egg but the one side of his head had stuck to the cloth I placed under him for hatch. I didn't realize that it was more than just the sticky jell that they are covered in but a chunck of hair came off with it and his little ear was exposed fully. I felt horrible, I was careful to protect the ear from exposure to direct water but one minute chirping moving wings next minute no breaths and dead?????? I don't seem to be having a good run of luck lately.

I'm sooo sorry for your loss Hippychick01. It is sad to have lost a little one I for one know the feeling. And that "run of not very good luck" you mentioned, well I think I'M the CAPTAIN of that..

My luck hasn't been the best either. The way I see it is things surely couldn't get any worse.

BUT THE TRUTH IS, THE DUCKS CAN OUT HATCH ME... I THINK I'LL LEAVE THAT TO THEM

Good luck with the rest of your hatch or hatches, ~Julie~

Good luck with the other ducklings. (Not to make you feel bad) Maybe, the duckling needed warm hands to keep it warm. The glove might not have kept enough heat. When the mother mallards allows her heat to get into the duckling. Maybe turning up the heat could have helped too? It is kind of hard to realize these kind of things when they are awake one moment and gone the next. What kind of duck was it? Domestic ducks are a bit weaker so there might not have been anything you could have done to save it.

Ummmmmm...KIND OF HARD TO TURN UP THE HEAT WHEN THE POWER WENT OUT AT 2:30 AM~ OH AND THE SOCKS, THEY ARE THICK, FUZZY, SUPER SOFT AND HELLA WARM, SLIPPER SOCKS! But I Dont want you to think that I walk around with socks of ANY KIND on my hands. I Have put them in with my ducky & other pets to give them something warm and fuzzy, and to give them a little more comfort. And SINCE THE BABY COULDN'T WALK, & I FELT SO BAD FOR IT, I TRIED TO MAKE IT AT LEASE BE COMFORTABLE. I DIDN'T LIKE TO SEE ITS HEAD WOBBLY. I THINK IN THE PICTURE YOU CAN SEE ONE OF THE SLIPPER SOCKS/ LOOKS HELLA WARM AND FUZZY TO ME

}}}Grrrrrrrr... WHY AM I EVEN RESPONDING? I HAVE READ YOUR POST OVER & OVER AND OVER, DuckLover9138....It don't make any since. So whats your point?~ YOUR NOT MAKING ME FEEL BAD, THERE'S BEEN TOO MANY COMFORTING POSTS/VERY NICE PEOPLE FOR ME TO JUST LET ONE POST (which DON'T make any since) GET TO ME.

no glove...a thick, hella warm, fuzzy & super soft Slipper Sock. ~Julie~

Sorry about it. I didn't realize that the heating depended on the electricity. Silly me.

I just thought since ducks normally survive near their mom's feathers and the heat keeps them warm. I thought that the glove wasn't emitting any heat and their own heat production might not be able to keep it alive when its very cold. That is why I thought perhaps if it was in your hand, it could have been saved.
