Update y'all Billie still kicking. She tried to get up but she can't stand for very long, she preened her self. That made me happy:yesss: she still hasn't moved her wings yet I am praying their not brok. Or her legs but I believe she is going to live it's been 36 hours since the dog attack and she is still hanging in there. Thanks you guys for you support love ya God bless.:love I keep y'all informed. Keep your fingers crossed :fland send up a prayer for little Billie.

You mention Billie is on starter... what kind? Are you supplementing a niacin source?

I had a duckling get scalped by a raccoon, and in much worse starting condition... recover really well... they are hardy little buggers!

She may have some sore muscles and such... movement will probably return pretty soon. Pain is actually a good thing, it slows us down and keeps us from injuring ourselves worse. The body is using lots of energy to make repairs... so good nutrition and rest to allow for it is great!

As long as you don't see the punctures getting a deeper red and hot feeling and no puss building behind wounds.. also no flies trying to lay eggs in the wounds... then you guys are well on your way! Just keep an eye for the things I mentioned. :)

Thanks I'll do that. What do I need to put in her food

Dumor poultry 100% complete formula. 20% starter grower. Does she need grit. As soon as I run out of starter I was going to put her on the Adult formula is that good.

Nothing, depending on what kind of feed it is...

Duck starter should be OK. But if it is chick starter they usually only have around 30mg/kg of niacin... and would need to supplement some for ducks. To prevent leg issues ducklings need to get 55mg/kg of niacin in their feed. You can call or email the company if it isn't listed on the nutritional analysis tag. I called Purina, and their "flock raiser" which is 20% protein does have the correct amount of niacin for ducks.

In the Q and A...
https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/dumor--chick-starter-grower-20-feed-50-lb

It says that it does have the right amount of niacin... and also included on the label it says for duck and gosling but not for turkeys and game birds... so maybe it is actually good enough.

It depends on what is meant by an "adult" formula... I would not put a non laying bird on "layer" feed as it's too much calcium. How much more do you have of this?

This is direct link to nutritional needs information... but if you haven't checked out their site, it has lots of other great information...
