Heartbroken need advice, please!(long post,sorry)

Oh, my. I can't believe people would sink so low. Well, yes I can. Don't go on their property. They could shoot you. You call the police back and MAKE them do their job. This time tell them to send out somebody that has a pair and that will do their job properly. KEEP CALLING THEM until they do what our tax dollars pay for.

In the amount of time it took for me to post that reply, there were a ton more.

I love all of you so much and can now hardly type for the tears.

I no longer feel crazy (the way the deputy made me feel). I feel hope!

Thank you for all the terrific advice and if and when I get them back I will definitely keep them penned up much longer.

Thank you!

Did you say that she has warrants out for her arrest? If the sheriff's dept came out and did not arrest her isn't that negligence on their part? Make a few calls to the courthouse and find out what warrents she has, that is public record and convienently let them know where she is and that she has commited theft now.

This ticks me off, and they aren't even my guineas! :thun The kind of people that would do that, are piles of poo, in my mind. Keep calling the Sheriff, until they do, DO something. Good luck!

I am so sorry that that happened to you. I can not even imagine dealing with people like that! Definately keep calling the Sheriff. maybe try to talk to a woman who works there, maybe she would be more understandable. And file charges and see if you can take them to court or something. I hope that you get your birds back soon. Hugs.

Update...

I called and spoke to the same Capt. that I spoke with yesterday. He said the exact same thing the deputy said "they will fly home when they are ready and the only recourse I have is to sue them civily"

Are you serious they don't even pay their own bills! They have never reimbursed for the flowers, hay and garden items their goats got out and ate!

Besides it is not about the money is about my birds!

As far as her warrant it is for Failure to appear after being given a personal recog. bond for the thousands of checks. They say that it has not been issued but court records say that it is to be issued with a $2500 bond. They won't do anything until it is actually issued and around here that can take months. Unless it was you or I and then it would be immediately!

Do you think penning another adult guinea by itself would encourage them home?

PS I called back and tried to speak to the female dispatcher and she said "What is the big deal? They are guineas, just buy some more." I guess she is made of money.

Have you tried to contact a game warden, they have more jurisdiction (sp) than any sheriff! A neighbor of mine had a simmilar problem and the cops would do nothing so I told her to call the game warden and he came right out and took care of it right away!

Hope all works out

Actually there is a good chance the guineas might come home, exspecially if your others are where they can hear them. You would be amazed at how high these birds can and will fly. It might take them a few days to decide they want to be free again but keep hoping. Mine have flown over a 8 foot fence to get out of the chicken pen. I have also seen them fly about 20 feet into our trees. They are excelent flyers and can do amazing things. I am sorry that you lost them, unfortunately that is one bad thing about guineas is they will roam and sometimes dont come back. Jenn
