HEARTBROKEN

I hope your neighbor offered to pay the vet bills. If it were me, they'd have a dead dog on their hands.

No...she didn't. However, I have been more than understanding. If I see him back on our property again I will not be so kind. I have been keeping them put up unless I'm outside which sucks for them! Also it had put a damper on the relationship Flossy has/had with my dog Rowdyy... they were very close & now... well as you can imagine, not so much. I'm hoping that will pass tho!

Good luck on Glossy become friends with your dog again. My Schneider got into our bathroom when my ducklings were just a few weeks old and killed 3. I was very mad at her and she knew it! The two surviving ones seem to still remember her as a threat 3 weeks later. I keep wondering how long they remember things. Though I do agree with them that she's a threat. We are going to take every precaution possible to keep her from them once outside!

@WendyK thank you for sharing this. One of my mini dachshunds killed one of our ducklings a few years back and Since then they have Never been around the ducklings/ chicks or goslings when they are babies. All we need to do is let our guard down 1X and that is all it takes.

Your ducklings need to remember your Schneider as a big threat. They have no defense what so ever.

Quote: I have a Dachshund as well, an 11yr old going on 3..anyway, thankfully we have a fence to keep in when we are outside with the girls(hens) he went after them once, didn't get to them thankfully, pretty sure the tone of my voice made him think twice. Now my red lab loves them and they like him as well and aren't threatened by him at all.

Always depends on the breed and prey drive. All of my dogs are fine with the birds once they grow out of the peeping stage, It's the peeping that sets them off.

That is sweet your lab loves them and them her.

Any way always good to have members share so that others can learn by our mistakes instead of their own heart break.

The dog that got Flossy was a Jack Russell, they are hunting dogs by nature I guess.... rowdyy is a chihuahua, but he isn't mouthy & annoying like some chichis can be! (Thank goodness!)---

Thank God Flossy is healing wonderfully, he got her tail & little leg pretty good, but she's doing just fine! It's actually snowing here today! This is their first snow! (Of course it decides to snow when she doesn't have a feather on her little butt!

We have snow too but mine are not amused. My scovy's anyway, my Runners and Buffs just view their world as one big party.
