heat lamp broke, in middle of flood 3 week old chicks

Where are the chicks? If in the house, they should be okay at that age. Need more details. If you have any of those disposable handwarmers for camping, activate those and put them under a towel. If not, just give them something to snuggle down into, like bath towels warmed in the dryer. Are they dry? Hopefully, they're not wet and out in the coop, right?

do you have them inside? They should be ok. My 3wk old babies were acting like they were too hot so I took their lamp off yesterday and they have been quite happy. I have them in the house away from any air vents.

Have them in the basement in boxes, closed the tops after giving them food and water. Thirty chicks in two boxes, sorry they barely fit but better than drowning. They never got wet; had them in the baby area in the hen house but water was rising fast. The hens have an area to go to but the babies are penned in so had to rescue them.

They are quiet and kind of huddled together; but not on top of each other. Usually if they are unhappy they voice their unhappiness. They aren't chirping, but they are not used to the dark. Maybe I'm more uncomfortable than they are?
