Heat Lamp

When do chicks not need a heat lamp? Mine are 7 weeks old and I am not sure if they need the heatlamp.

I have a mixed bunch of two different ages in my brooder. Two weeks ago we had a week-long heat wave where it was near 90 during the day and 70's at night so I turned my light off and haven't turned it back on. At that time some were 5 weeks and some were 3 weeks old and they've all been perfectly fine.

Depending on your temperatures of course, they didn't need it 3 to 4 weeks ago.

Once they get a good number of feathers they're okay to huddle and keep each other warm if it's cool. Where are you located?
