Hi guys! I have 3 chicks that are 2 weeks old. Should their heat lamp be on continuously? It's been 57 degrees out at night and high 70's during the day this past week. They're inside right now and we usually keep temps around 70-ish degrees.

Thanks!

that is a little cold -5 degrees a week till 6 weeks. I like to put my birds in a smaller night box so they can keep eachother warm at six weeks then let them out to play during the day .

I kept the heat lamp on my 8 tetras and production reds until they were about 4 weeks old but I moved it up a little bit each week to build up cold tolerance. We reduced the temperature about 5 degrees every week we had them, starting at about 90 degrees. We just moved them out to the coop because they are about 6 weeks old. It has been getting below freezing at night but we have just kept the lamp on for them all the time to make sure they are okay. They have gotten almost all their feathers in and seem to be doing great. We have 6 more chicks in the brooder now.
