Each plates says it can accommodate 20-25 chicks.

As inaccurate as the prefab coops when it comes to population claims.
Might work when they are day olds, but they'll grow out it fast.
My 12x24 barely held 16 until they were off heat.

That’s interesting. I figured 25 birds was pushing it, so that’s why I was thinking 15 per plate would be sufficient. It has been so warm here lately that they have barely used them. Did you angle the plate or leave it flat? I do have a light in the coop in the event that I need to supplement with that.

Yes.
Always higher in front than back....with egress on all 4 sides.
