Heated waterer

I live in the northeast and it's below freezing already. How do I keep my chickens from pecking the electric cord to the heated waterer in their coop? I'm afraid they'll electrocute themselves.

Very easy solution is to insert cord into a plastic tube like PVC , or swimming pool filter tubing. That one is flexible, and can be purchase in different lengths.

Where is your electrical outlet? Mine is up near the ceiling; my flock leaves it alone.
I agree, if your cord is on the ground or you are worried, a pvc tube is a brilliant idea!!

Thanks so much to both of you! The cord is near the top of the coop but the roost is near the top as well. I'll try some PVC pipe.
