Just wanted to add, even though I use a MHP I still keep a heat lamp on hand. Handy to have it available "just in case" even if I only needed it for an hour here or there (like I got my chicks a day earlier than anticipated so had them under the heat lamp until I finished setting up the last couple of things).

Ive used a heat lamp for years until...

I honestly dont know how this happened, must have been jolted out of position somehow. All survived. Now i only use a wire cookie rack with a heating pad wrapped in a towel and press and seal.
