1 onion, finely chopped
2 T. butter
24-oz pkg. frozen shredded hashbrowns, thawed
2 c. grated cheddar cheese
10-3/4 oz. can cream of chicken soup
2 c. sour cream
salt and pepper to taste

Saute' onion in butter until tender; combine with remaining ingredients. Pour into a lighttly greased 2-guart baking dish; bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Makes 8-10 servings.
 
That recipe looks exactly like the one for the Hashbrown Casserole from Cracker Barrel!! If it is, it's SO good!!

It is really good and easy. I make this with biscuits, rice, hash browns, tater tots, crescent rolls etc. just lay those in the pan first.....and then put all other ingredients in a sauce pan.....I usually add corn to this. Enough milk to be cooked off and extra cheese heat it up and then pour over what you put in the casserole dish.....and cook till done usually just 30 min to an hour. You don't need to your base first they will cook and rise still. Something else I do is add more chicken or fried hamburger to sauce mix and you can put a crunchy topping on if you wish. Oh yeah don't forget seasoning salt on yours!
