Heavy Breed

I never knew they injected the egg. I just always thought they used food coloring to spray the chick. It was neat to find out. At least I know their colors will last a little longer than I thought. :) My kids are so happy with them. Now when my 3 yr old grabs his orange one, the others aren't yelling that he is picking up theirs. haha

It's done both ways -- injected into the shell late in the incubation process OR sprayed on as a fine mist and then the chicks are dried. If you get the kind dyed in the shell, they're straight run. Mist dyed chicks would almost certainly be surplus cockerels.

Their color is still pretty bright so maybe they were dyed in the egg. They only color they have is their wings that are coming in. :)

Children should be supervised and taught to handle chicks carefully ... it is not something a child does naturally in my experience.
