Heelllooo from Bremerton!! aka-New Member :D

I'm just borrowing ideas from the research on how others have built there coops and what seems to be the safest way to go. I want to have a 'pet' flock so don't want them to die because I was careless. I will always try to protect my pets to the best of my knowledge..or my research knowledge. HAHA! That's why I will never turn down tip and help! That's how I learn!

Hopefully we never get to old to learn. I've raised chickens for the past 50 years, and have been retired for the past 6 years, and I'm still learning lots from the other BYC members. :o)

Very true! Never too old to learn! Well, I hope not at least. hehe You have a LOT of chicken experience! That's great! So you've probably had all sorts of experiences with them. What to feed them, how to keep them happy and safe, etc.

I've fed a few of them over the years. :o) I've lost a few of them to predators too, although not for the past couple of decades. The last ones I lost were to Mongooses when I lived on the big island of Hawaii. I started keeping them in enclosed runs all the time there, or I would have eventually lost the entire flock to the Mongooses. The Mongooses bred like rats over there, and they would eat anything, including chickens and eggs.
