In the Brooder
Hi everyone. Think I registered a few years back (but those brain cells are gone) : ).
This is Wayne and Lana. (Lana (me) will do most of the posting). We started our farm over 4 years ago, but due to the economy we had to move to find work. So we had to get rid of all of our animals
. We kept our farm and missed coming home. After two and half years we are finally able to return and have wasted no time in getting back in the game of our animals. We raise rabbits. Just got 3 new Zealands. Really looking at the silver fox or Florida whites. Would love some Californians, but can't find any locally. The Silver fox and the Florida whites I can get locally. Just spending that extra money for them has me on the back burner. Anyway we have 8 chickens straight run from TC. So can't tell what kind they are... LOL Nothing I have had before. Started with 12, Lost one to snake. Then three overnight no trace. They are in their coop not free range yet. So moved them to different pen with some added protection... Low and behold a fox came a calling. We put up electric fencing around the coop no losses yet. Sure we will have a few more losses a lot of Hawks and Owls and Bald Eagles. And supersizing stray cats. We live in Florida we have alligators Not as pets. (they usually take care of the cats) No meanness about cats we just have never had a problem before. But really who can eat 56 eggs a week. Just my husband and I.
We use to have Coturnix quail. Due to hard to find live birds that I would spend money on we decided to incubate. So as of today we have 36 hatched. Still 36 in bator. Being inpatient........ And they are eating machines..... LOL
Anyway that is a little about us.
And I wanted to say THANKS to everyone here. Whenever there is a question there is usually an answer. Have been here often with questions and ideas and this forum always comes through. So thank you again.
