I've missed my cyber-space home away from homes but the new place is keeping us totally busy.

Rob, no need to feel guilty about not calling...the phone doesn't work indoors and only sometimes when I'm outdoors, it all depends on where I'm standing.

Eggchel, camping over the winter was interesting but we survived. The weather was great until right around the end of December and then it hit. We had almost 3 weeks of tundra temps, then snow and ice at the end of January then another snow in February. Brrrrrrrr!!!

Gonzo&hispeeps, yep, I loved that show but it was actually filmed out in Hollywood about the town in AR. However, there really is an Evening Shade Cafe and they have the best cheeseburgers and catfish!

Well, I was going to post some pix but I've gotta learn it all over again so I'll mess around with it and get sme posted as soon as I can.

We brought our entire flock (13 hens/2 roos/EE's and Silver Spangled Hamburgs) with us and they love the fact that they are able to get out and free range when I'm out working the yard. Back in October, we added 7 Guinea keets to the menagerie and have enjoyed them immensely.

Looking forward to a few of the girls going broody this year since we'll be letting them doing the hatching. I still have my bator but we use a generator for power so I can't be the broody this year.

Well, I need to go do a water change in the salt tank and grab a shower so I'm outta here for now.

We just got our internet hooked up on Thursday and would have visited sooner but the neighbor ran over the cable accidently and we just got it fixed today...in time for a thunderstorm to blow through! Sheesh, that seems like the story of our lives since we've been living out here but we wouldn't change any of it for anything!

We're still somewhat roughing it but got our temporary electric hooked up back in January and even though we're still in the 22' camper we're feeling totally civilized. I told my mom last Thursday that I was going to make a scarecrow but that I didn't want it to scare anything. She asked me what was the point in it then and I told her that it would give me someone to talk to!

I've still got all the birds but no new additions. We had two of our Easter Eggers go broody last summer only to have our resident black snakes get the eggs about half way through. I was bummed but it was a small price to pay since we've seen no rattlers or copperheads (the black snakes will eat them). We're reworking the Chick-n-Barn at this time to get it snake-proofed for broody-duty.

Well, I'm gonna spook around a bit and can't wait to talk to everyone again...I've sure missed y'all!

So great to hear from you!!

Sounds like you're living quite the exciting adventure. I can't imagine being without internet for much longer than a couple days. I think my wife and I would kill each other unless the reason was something like a vacation, etc.

BTW, toss the scarecrow, you've got a few thousand new friends here that you haven't met yet and a bunch of old ones to talk to!

It's great to be back Rob! Fortunately, we've had so many projects to keep us busy (that would be to hard to do alone), we never considered killing each other and any bodily harm was just par the course.

I'll be drivin' ya's nuts as soon as I get all the pix off of Skip's computer. I have some on mine but over 4,000 of them on his since I've documented just about everything we've been doing since we've been out here.

We used Mom's internet when we first got here then she got rid of it and with Skip's job, there wasn't enough time to spend any using the librarys' when we were there every 2 weeks. I missed it most when I wanted info that I couldn't find in any of my books. I've got note book pages of things I still need to get researched and will have plenty of time with this heat we're having.
