Hello, I'm Barb, aka Pasomom

I have had chickens in the past, but am about to jump in again.

My new babies have been bought, (Easter season ...chick are readily available) and a friend is raising them for me, as she has the time, and expertise to do it. I on the other hand, have plans for a new chicken coop, and I'm looking around for information on coops and automatic coop doors, etc. My son in law has promised to come help me build my coop in June, so I am getting everything in order for his arrival. (he lives 1000 miles away)

In case you guys are wondering why "Pasomom"...we also have horses, but the main reason is because my daughter and I used to run, and manage our own website/forum called American Paso Finos.com Pasomom was my handle on our website. Unfortunately during these past hard times, my daughter closed it down. I know what it takes to run one of these sites, and the problems entailed. I compliment you on your rules, and hope you don't have too much trouble monitoring the site. I haven't had much time to browse around yet but so far, looks like you are set up very nicely! Kudos!

Just wanted to say hello, and hope to find some great information on the site.
I'm located in Florida, so maybe that will help with any advise you guys have, to know what area of the globe we live in, and what kind of problems/weather issues we might have. Our place is located next to a state park, so lots of critters around that like chickens. We plan to put down cement footer all the way around our "yard" and I'm building a closed in coop. Actually, I found the plans here. We are building the Pemberly Chicken Castle. :) Or something very close. (depending on how the project progresses. LOL My husband usualy has a few of his own ideas about things :)

Look forward to chating with you all,

Barb
