Hello all

G'day, and welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Silkies are a wonderful breed; sweet, gentle, friendly, and funny (great lap pets), and excellent brooders and mothers. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Can't migrants on your new silkie :clap They sure are a sweet little breed of chickens. Does your silkie have a friend? Chickens are flock animals and do so much better with company. A nice quiet docile breed would be great for your silkie. You might like to drop by the silkie thread where you can chat to other keepers about them. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/297632/silkie-thread

Wishing you the very best of luck and enjoy BYC :frow

x2 on Yorkshire coop's comment about chickens preferring company. You could keep her as a house chicken, a lot of people do.

It's nice to have you here!

Thank you everyone and yes my silkie is staying indoors for the first couple days not only until we find it a friend but also until we find the sand required to line the chicken shed. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we live so rural it means that finding silkies is a painful process to say the least. Anyways once again thank you for the warm welcome to BYC.

glad you have joined us.

Congrats on getting your Silkie, and hope you can find her some "buddies".

But if she stays a house chicken for long, bet she will want to stay with you

Hello!
400

Welcome to BYC and the coop! There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to joined the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around BYC. :highfive: A fellow Silkie lover!

Welcome to BYC. There is a very good thread here "Australia, six states and one funny little island." you could find out what is going on around you and what others use if they can't get sand. We have aussies on here that have silkies. I'm not sure but think one of the aussie folks has a user name of Bambrook bantams, and goes by Teila. She is a very nice lady.

Hi and welcome. Congrats on your first chicken and more importantly, all the best with the getting more (always an upward spiral
