BYC has an APP!

My intro:
We are a Vegetarian household.
I have had Chickens (though not for the chop) mostly as rescues for a couple of years, with some difficulty!
The difficulty has come from: My empathetic temperament, and resulting anxiety. My taking rescue hens before gaining enough experience and resilience. And the fact that I keep getting given hens that turn out to be roosters!

Right now I have 7 sisters, one of which I'm already suspicious about! and they are also
not typical of the Pekin Bantams I'm told they are, or the age? haha!

All said, we love LOVE having hens, and they have now replaced all other small pets and are tended to by the children with much delight.

We are an Outdoor family, and I am currently in training to become a Forest School Leader, with my children also attending outdoor school.

I finally joined BYC primarily because I was sick of the pop up adverts and hoped to get rid of some of them by being a member! but the adverts were there because I was always seeking advice from you guys, so I guess it was a done deal one way or another!

Thankyou for reading!
Welcome!
I have a son who LOVES our ('his' in that 2 year old mind) chickens. They are great for kids as long as you don't get an aggressive bird.

Hi & :welcome

Great that you could join us all here! Please do post in the what breed section that Pork pie left for you. I’m sure you will get help there on your Pekins.

Good luck & enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

They are lovely! Mine have no feather boots! so no pekins in my flock it seems! also, laughing because it took me a while to realise 'pork pie' was a member on here!

Previously, the aggressive ones turned out to be roo's! they did put the kids off to be honest, but our new little ones are restoring all of that trauma! I never knew what great pets they could be!
