Hi BYC!
I've grown up with chickens and had them for about 20 years, but have only recently moved from a rural area to semi-urban, and it's been a big change. I used to name all the hens after disney princesses, but now mostly wait and get a feel for their personalities, so I like to imagine I've grown up a little.
I have 9 chickens right now, mostly rescues. A couple of Isa Browns, a Barnevelder, a Dorking, a couple of Wyandottes, a Light Sussex and an Australorp.
I've only recently had the time and space to really get into raising chickens, but I have always loved animals and chickens are right up the top of my list now. I like to garden with the chickens and just love to watch them enjoying any new thing they find.
I am pretty crazy about animals, but also quite ignorant about looking after them, mostly because most of my animals have been very healthy. I'm a bit terrified of causing them distress.
I have two dogs and three cats, and I'm fairly sure every single one of the animals believes they run the house.
I haven't known about BYC until I searched for some help with a problem one of my roosters has, and I joined lickity-split, as soon as I got a break from work.
I hope eventually I can help people by sharing some of my experiences.
Nice to be here.
