Hi there!
My name is Heather from the Seattle area (a bit North of, our city neighbors all of twenty minutes away consider the North Sound akin to the sticks ) and we first got our girls about four months ago. They were about 18 wks old at the time and were purchased as part of my son's neglected animal biology protect he'd volunteered for .

Well, I'm so glad he did because I love my girls like I love my other "traditional" pets!

We have two Plymouth rocks and one Buff Orpington and just acquired two Americana chicks and one Blue Andalusian and one Rhode Island Red. They're 10-14 days old now!

I won't lie, I have a favorite chicken and its my buff Orpington, Henrietta! She's my girl, lays on me, let's me pet her, follows me everywhere. Sadly, this has recently led to some bullying from her adopted sisters recently, despite my attempts to pay them even amounts of attention.

That brings me to how I found you! I was googling information on chicken behavior and found this treasure trove!!! I love the site and have learned so much!

Can't wait to share my girls and baby girls with you all and keep learning!

Yes, when raising chickens it seems like learning never ends! Sorry you're having some bully problems, pecking order can seem pretty unfair at times, but is perfectly normal. But do keep any eye out for true bullying.... all out attacks and drawing blood. Here are some links that should help offer some solutions, and get your little ones integrated safely:

Best wishes with your growing flock!

Welcome! This site is definitely a treasure trove. I have a number of friends up in Seattle and the towns nearby. It's so beautiful there - I love the tall firs, and the way the air smells - my husband and I had been going up there for PAX most years on Labor Day week. I hope you have a cooler and wetter summer than the last couple of years. Can't make it this year. I'd so love to live there someday.

Welcome welcome! Glad you found us! I am pretty new here alse and in the few weeks I have been here I have learned a ton, saved my 2 nearly drown ducklings, had numerous questions answered rapidly and just plain enjoyed poking around. Treasure trove is a true statement! Enjoy! Post pics any time. We love pics!
