Ps read the article! Very good and informative thank you ! I’m wondering if it was a bit of bamboo leaf she ate as it’s in the coop as a well established plant! But I can always cut it so they can’t reach the leaves!Have you clicked the link and read the article? It has very good information.
Greek yogurt is fine. Mix in maybe a 1/2 tsp of Poultry Nutri-drench for extra nutrition.
Do the chicks have access to grit?
It's very dangerous to vomit a chicken. They can easily aspirate.
I'd keep her warm and wait until the crop clears before offering chick feed again and when you do, make it into a very wet mash.
Great that she is feeling better!Good morning to you- or whatever time of day it is where you areso she had a good night and is really perky this morning! Iv brought her back in now though but she’s not overly happy about it. Iv watered down her chick crumb and given her some more yogurt which she takes well. She’s not really interested in the food and seems to prefer pecking for the harder bits that have been flicked out of the bowl! I tried to vomit her but there was nothing to come up! Her crop has a very small squidgy mass in there but hardly nothing. Do you think if I put her back with the girls and only limit chick crumb and nothing else she would be ok? She seems happier with them and I don’t want to unsettle her more than I should! She is bright today and nothing compared to yesterday! I really do appreciate your help! Charlotte x
Thank you! she went back with the girls and crop was empty yesterday but today her crop felt lumpy and round this morning but she was let out before i could check her! but she seems well and eating good etc fed her some more yogurt just now so will keep an eye! shes going to be a trouble maker i thinkGreat that she is feeling better! You can keep her with the others but no free ranging, no goodies, no eating anything but chick food and yogurt until she can wake up in the morning with a completely empty crop.
You are doing a great job with her! Keep us posted!![]()
No but I can get some! Seems strange that yesterday morning it was completely empty ! I guess it’s just keeping an eyeIt's possible she has an impaction further on down in the gizzard. Do you have any mineral oil? You might give her 1ml once daily for a couple of days to break down any grass or thick foliage she may have consumed. Hopefully she didn't eat something non edible that could be stuck somewhere.
