I figure I have dottes and sebright for Rosecomb Clean leg I would like to get into the rosecomb for a little more diversity in that class, and yet quite similar to OE in body. Just more tail and a nice rosecomb that doesn't need to be dubbed. Columbian will be easy to get into rosecomb with a good wheaton rosecomb hen or two, and Birchen and brown red males I have over black Rosecomb hens will give me pullets right out the gate... It will just tae 3 years of work to have cockrells and cocks of the varieties..
You see I have a plan, and the time, and the etc. etc. etc.

The weights are exactly the same with the rosecombs with the exception that the rosecomb cocks are 26 oz rather than 24 oz like the oegb.

Are the Rosecombs about the same size as the OEG? Are they good natured with childern?

very similar in temperment, just not much color variety available right now. There are 26 recognized colors but only 4-5 that can be found.. Black is teh most common.

Some of my current Hatchery OE, wanting to find them homes and get some exhibition types, but wanted to post pics just in case any of these guys had potential... I'm a newbie at this so if someone could critique them and tell me if there is anything nice and what's wrong so I know more what to look for. I know it's hard to judge by pics... These birds are approx. 6mo old.

do you know if OEG's carry some form of Feathering inhibitors?

in my limited experience, when a fully feathered bird like Brahma or Cochin the F1 should be middle feathered like a Langshan

below pics just to make an example..

below birds are from a cross of a fully feathered bird with a clean shanked leghorn

I know the genes responsible for fethered legs are dominant over normal clean legs, and when a cross is made all will demonstrate feathred legs in the F1. With OE this can be somewhat limited and appear as stubble but more often you don't start to see that until the F2 birds are produced.
