I know they'll be fine next winter, I just thought they were too little this past December and January to keep warm on their own. I'm guilty of babying my birds too much. I should probably just separate them.

I have some cute pullets in another coop. I might be able to pair them up if they can be gentlemen. I just don't want them messing up my ladies, as they are nice SQ girls.
 
if the feathers are just not there anymore, they are molting...different lines of birds molt at different times...until chicks reach their final adult molt, they will continually drop feathers...
 
Hi guys. Very new to this showing. Have shown performance dogs for years and years (40) but too old for that now and decided to take up chicken showing! : ) I've found it a bit confusing and tough to find info on standards (I can't afford the SOP right now) for my breeds, so am relying onthe help of nice folks on forums to educate me. And please - I AM my animal's harshest critics! Anything negative said to help melearn IS APPRECIATED! You can't learn by people saying "nice bird"...

OK, now, I think this birdis a bit large and a bit coarse, but other than that,could you help me with the finer points of conformation? And would you call his color "pumkin" or "ginger" and are either of those colors standard?

I cant really help you with the finer points on showing, but I dont believe that is a bird you will have much luck showing him as he doesnt fit any standard color and while he isnt a BAD bird he is not a show bird. That is just an opinion from a few pictures, you cant tell a whole lot about a bird from pictures.

I would say just by looking at the few pictures probably hatchery ginger red.The color is way off for a ginger.The tail angle is too steep.It should be at 45 degrees.If you are really interested in showing gingers you should do some checking around for a reputable exhibition breeder and get some brood stock from them.I really like ginger reds but it's almost impossible to find someone with good ones.If I ever do I will work on that variety next.Good luck.
