They were so hot so we moved them to a cooler spot in the yard with plenty of fresh water and frozen jugs of water inside a turned over tote

DH named them but I am thinking their names will change once we get to know them better

Matt, look at the pullets leg color.. the Cockrell appears to be GDW I think the pullet has something else in there. Maybe Silver Ginger.

I agree on the hen...However,the color is too broken up and pretty off for pure GDW.I vote something else in there as well.

good catch, I missed the leg color. I have never paid much attention to GDW, just a guess...

hey it was a good guess, I have my own little OCD type issues which includes leg color issues. we all have our little hang ups that is just one of many for me. You know how it goes.

Hows the heat up there today? I'd call but my phone may have finally given up, Steph took it away from me and went to the ATT store. I think I'm getting a new one, and not by choice.

the problem with Golden Duckwing is the fact it is a cross of Silver Duckwing and BB red to start with. In order to meet the standard the hen is a silver duckwing and teh male needs to carry both red and Silver genes for hackle saddle wing bow and wing bay. A GDW can not breed 100% true anyway.

I understand those points.. I was mainly looking around the shoulder area and hackles with so much black in the head/hackles.

Thank you all for responding, I didn't even think about leg color so I went back out and took another picture of them, they are so flighty and spook so easily, my son tried to pick up the hen and she flew over his head and landed on the shed roof

but we got her back in their pen, no harm done just a few heart attacks
