Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

You know it is kinda nice to be able to actually talk to a few OE folks on here without all the bickering and arguing that goes on,on the other site.I wish we could get a few of the others from there on here without the trouble makers.

yep...that other site just gets too irritating...and only due to 2 or 3 folks, wish a moderator would do something over there.

What do they bicker about? lol Sometimes these chat sites get out of hand, but i love byc and the admins do a great job.

There are just a few guys on there that are either always negative, or they just post stupid stuff when they have no idea what they are talking about. Then when they get corrected on it, they just spout out more BS...but enough about that other board, it irritates me talkin about it, lol....celtic hill, what varieties of oegb are you raising?

I have a quick question for all you OEGB people. I have a pair of quail OEGBs that are about 8 weeks old. I got them from Ideal hatchery. My question is this: is this pair an okay place to start as far as breeding goe? Could I hatch chicks from them and then pick the best offspring from the hatch to keep for the next year's breeding to improve the quality? I don't plan to show, but I would like to do the best with the stock I have for my own enjoyment and for any that I may sell or give away in the future.

Post some Pics, the hatchery OE are often short on type and color but every now and then you get something worth working with. Lets see what you got. If all else fails you may be able to pick up a nice pair or trio this fall.

These pics are kind of old (the chicks were 4 weeks old when I took these), so I'm not sure how useful they'll be in judging quality. I'm sorry for the small size of the cockerel in the pics showing him. I'll take some new pics (and more close-up) and post them after I get home from work this evening.

This is the pullet.

The cockerel with his head in the empty yogurt dish. I'm sorry part of his back is obscured by the string to which the feeder is attached.

It almost reminds me of high school.
