(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, this our first time with any animal not a house kept pet. We got our first chicks about 8 weeks ago, and a few more two weeks after that.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
16
(3) What breeds do you have?
10 ISA Browns, 6 Golden Comets
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far, it has been feeding them treats from the garden, placing heads of lettuce on their wrecking ball toy, and just generally watching "chicken TV."
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Firearms, and figuring out how to tend to 5 acres after living in suburbs my entire life.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a son and daughter, both under 10. They are not super interested in the chicks, but my wife and I give them lots of love (the chicks and the kiddos).
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC through googling for some answers early on. I joined to ask why some of my chickens aren't roosting on the bars and preferring to sleep on the floor.
