Hello BYC

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
It takes time for all the birds to figure out roosting without being taught to do so by their mother. If you got them in two different batches they will stay in sub-flocks for a while.

Hello, thanks for joining us! It looks to me as if your roosts are too high. What are the dimensions of your coop? This article might help: coop-stack-up-how-high-stuff-works-well.73427

Best wishes.
Hi N F C,

I read the article you linked. Where I may be running into an issue is that everything I read said that the roosts need to be higher than the nesting boxes. The overall coop is 4x8x4 on the left side of the Pic, and 4x8x6 on the right. I worry if I add something else for them to jump down to, they will just roost on that. Should I add a ramp? Also - that highest "roost" that one of the girls is on was not supposed to be a roost, just part of the structure. This is the first thing I have ever built, and didn't use plans, so I'm sure I made a lot of mistakes in that regard. I have also caught some of them roosting on top of the nesting boxes.
