I am new here. I am looking into the possibility of raising chickens for fresh eggs. I have no idea how, who, what, where or even if! I have a couple kids who do it, but I'm interested in gathering some information for starters.

Welcome to Back Yard Chickens
Raising chickens can be as complicated or a easy as you make it. We built our coop at the back of our barn. - threw some chickens back there with food and water and for the first few years that was fine. The kids fed and watered them. As the years passed we added a "Chicken wire roof" to keep the predators out and lately I have really been in a "Lets decorate and update" the chicken area. Good luck.
