All of a sudden one of the girls is sleeping in the next box!! any idea on the reasoning or how to stop are appreciated

I've heard about this happening - apparently you just have to break the habit by blocking the entrance to the nest box at night.

I just read your post on the other thread. It may just be because she likes to sleep on her own - I find my chickens tend to band off in groups of two who are very close friends :p Perhaps you could get her another orpington friend? Ages ago when we had only 3 chickens left because one had died, the remaining older one used to sleep on her own as well. I don't think it should be a problem - chickens are quite hardy when it comes to the cold.
