Hello! Cookoo Marans

[More Chickens]

Hi.... we purchased 4 cookoo marans from a person down the road. They say they are coming to the second year of laying. They are not laying and it is 2/23/12. Ugh! We give them care, feed, water, TLC, scratch, etc... dry conditions and even a rooster to warm up to. Any suggestions on how to kick start laying?

When did you get them? Chickens will react to any change in their environment by ceasing to lay until they have made the adjustment.

Purchased over two weeks ago. Yes, they are probably in an adjustment period. Maybe they will kick in soon. Same for the two American aracauna. They too are not laying. So the one bird that we kept is trying to boost morale for the rest.

Don't worry, when they have settled in you will start getting some eggs.

Hi, glad you joined the forum! If they molted recently that could be the cause as well. One of my best layers molted in October and still hasn't started back laying. Good luck!
