Hello duck people,

So the username is "Snakeman" does this actually mean he's a snake person as well as a duck whisperer?

Love the muscovy trying to be a parrot BTW - thats awesome. I've never had a duck that would tolerate such an akward place to stand- only chickens. lol.

SOS... He is a snake person. Loves them. Years ago had over 300 at one time, so many he made the front page of the local paper and worked with breeders and buyers all over. He loves nothing better than to catch something outside and bring it in to show me before he releases it. (lucky me, huh?

) All our friends know to call him if they have a snake they need removed. Now a days he only has 3 as pets... a couple of pythons and a corn snake. He's moved on to ducks. And now we're getting chickens too. It keeps him pretty busy.

Gerry, the duck on his shoulder is a crazy friendly duck. My favorite in terms of personality. Thinks he's king of the duck pen. (and the other ducks let him think so) We raised him from a week old, and Snakeman has always been responsible for his care. Gerry just likes him best. He would never tolerate that for me. Not even for peas.

Wow, Gerry looks a lot like my Muscovy Ivan. And I'm sure Ivan would sit on my shoulder too if I ever tried, which I haven't because because my shoulders are not broad enough. Hmmm, and the claw thing too. How does Gerry come down?

Thanks for all the welcomes. I've had all kinds of pets all my life. I actually get along with animals better than I get along with most people.
The ducks are definitely a favorite. And, like with many animals, I seem to have a talent for them.

Looking forward to some interesting threads.

Mystic - I am an avid snake fan myself - lol thus why I asked!

I am bad about catching snakes and lizards outside (when my 5 yr old can't see!) and showing whoever's around - lol. I have now talked my old fashioned neighbors into stop killing the black snakes and let me get them and move them. I hate watching something be killed thats just passing through usually. We have a big 5 ft black snake that inhabits out yard and maple tree - his name is George.

I have a 14 yr old Ball python and my daughter has a 1 yr old ball python.

- I've had a bit of all of them myself and I'm definately a python/boa fan over colubrids. But your hubby sounds like a guy I visited once who had 400+ snakes, lizards, invertabrates, and turtles in his house everything from cornsnakes to a gaboon viper, to scorpions and tarantulas, to gila monsters, to snapping turtles.

Mystic you guys are awesome - I hope to down the road in life find someone who is as avidly in love with all animals the way I am. lol.

Now that's a MAN to be able to tolerate a Muscovy on his shoulder! Those claws are like razors! Mystic, you have a good strong shoulder to cry on if need be...just remember to move the duck first...LOL
