Hey y'all I'm new to this site, and also I'm a new chickeneer! My flock consist of 20 regular sized chickens that live in a 12x12 coop with another 12x24 fenced in area, since we have skunks and fox we have netted the roof, we also have 6 bantams, that live in my garage and free range during the day. All of them seem very happy , except for the heat! We live in Pampa, TX which is in the panhandle, approx 50 miles east of Amarillo during summer our avg. temps are 100-105 degrees. To help keep them cool we shread all of the extra zuchini we grow and put it in a bowl, fill it with water and freeze it, they absolutely love it!

Frozen peas and cold water melon help keep them cool too.
Frozen gallon size water jugs placed where they can lean up against them work too.
