:) Hello Everyone and Thank you

Ah, the sympathy buy at the farm store -- been there. My American Buff geese are mine because I went to the local Bomgaars on a Friday and saw a brooder full of goslings. When I went back to buy feed the next Monday, there were only two lonely little babies left in the brooder. They HAD to come home with me.

Fortunately, is it turns out, I adore my geese. I hope all your little used-to-be-unwanteds work out well for you and you find our what everyone is.

Sounds like you have grand plans for their future. Best of luck with that, and welcome to BYC!

Thanks. I've never regretted it, although I was completely unprepared for their antics. This week, I discovered they had chewed the rubberized handle cover off my wheelbarrow. They like to walk up the steps and "knock" at both the front and back doors. They stand and sit on the wooden settee on the deck, both chewing at the wood and leaving "presents" for the next sitter. If I try to sit down with some of the chickens, the geese walk up and start nibbling on my clothes to get my attention.

And yet, I absolutely adore them!

Big toothpicks might help dislodge a multitude of stuff they shouldn't eat. My geese are like toddlers -- everything goes in their mouths.

One day, Gussie came walking up to the house carrying something yellow. Turns out, she found one of my coop-cleaning gloves I accidentally left outside. Maybe she just wanted her shelter cleaned out next?

:yuckyuck The "silly goose" phrase just doesn't make a lot of sense to me now that I've raised geese..."goofy" maybe, but they're definitely not foolish.
