Thank you Mountain Peeps, CrazyChookz and drumstick diva for your warm welcome. I am really glad there are more chicken people out there than I thought. It was very lonely not to be able to talk, chicken talk. Most people around me, think, I am a little nuts because the way I talk about chickens sometimes, not that they are wrong.
I actually have 3 naked necks, Momma Piroca and her 2 baby girls Piroquita - "little naked neck" and Wispy - as I did not even know that Perfect chicken, one of my orpington, was hatching this egg. So she was the tiniest little quiet thing around this huge Momma.
The name "Piroca" is an old colloquialism in my home town that means "naked neck".
I have seen the showgirls, they are absolutely gorgeous. So far I have not added anything bantam to my flock, because I am afraid of the particular care they may involve in New England weather, but I have a Norwegian Jaerhon and a silver spangled hamburg which are also small birds. I saw pictures of Frizzle naked necks, standard size. Well, I think I am in love with the thought of having a couple of those soon I hope, just don't know where and how to get them yet. Ayam Cemanis, Black Sumatras, gorgeous birds.
Even my son, who wants nothing to do with the chickens, said. "Papa, why don't you get one of those cool looking chicken" and I thought to myself, there is hope!
