Hiya, Candy, and welcome to BYC!
Loved your intro, but sorry about your brother.
I've got eggs due to hatch on the 14th and staggered hatches weekly after that so know the excitement. I usually can get near 100% on my own, but shipped eggs this past year has been closer to 35%, whereas other years was 70%. I just hope your eggs got the better USPS drivers!
For shipped eggs, I unpack them and put them in egg cartons pointy side down for a day/24 hours.
After that, I set them in the incubator, then keep the turner off for 24 hours. Incubator should already have been running at 99.5F, and around 40% humidity. Don't forget to turn the turner back on the next day, but some leave it off for two or three days. I just stick to one.
Wishing you a great hatch!
