Hello,

Just wanted to reach out and say hi and introduce myself. My name is Robin. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to get chickens for awhile and finally decided to do it. This is our first time raising chickens and any advice is appreciated. We just got our Buff Orpingtons on Monday so we are on day 3 of our chicken journey. We are starting out with 12 and then may add more once we are a little more experienced. We have already been introduced to crusty butt and had to clean up a few of them yesterday evening. This weekend we are building their coop and am hoping it turns out well and we have covered all the bases as far as what is required in a chicken coop. Will post pics of the cuties soon

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)
