I just decided to join to hopefully get some help and advice with various poultry!

    (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Not anymore to be honest, My parents had raised me and my brothers around chickens but we only know the basics of taking care of them, However we are very new to raising and caring for turkeys.

    (2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I'd like to count to around 46 may be more i am rather unsure. sorry for any misaps.

    (3) What breeds do you have?

We currently own 6 turkeys (I believe bronzeback, Genders are not known yet.)
    Around 20 bantams. (5 roosters 15 hens)
    4 araucanas (3 hens 1 rooster)
12 Barred rock (All hens, Rooster sadly passed away)

    (4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I was searching for advice on raising my chickens and turkeys and happened to stumble upon this site, one thing led to another and i soon joined.

    (5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I enjoy trail riding on horseback when i have the time.
I also enjoy just enjoy sitting outside watching how the chickens behave with one another.
I also enjoy building things for my pets, normally small stuff or shelters.
I really enjoy walking with my dogs as well as playing with them,

    (6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

The hen in my profile picture is not a recent hen at all, She is pushing about 7 years of age now and she has been my companion for the longest time, The picture is of her first time in the house since she was a little chick, She was 4 years old at the time i had taken the photo. I was never sure of her exact bantam breed sadly, I had named her Madam when she was a year old due to her clucks sounding like an old lady at the time, If i call for her outside she'll come running to me, She's a sweet little hen.

I also own a horse who is 9 years old, He is a gelding and his name is Rusty, He was 6 years of age when i had gotten him.

I own a german shepherd named Jade and also a mixed-breed dog name luke, unlike the others i sadly have no memory of their ages.

I also have a European background, from both my mother's side and my father's side. My grandmother and grandfather from my mother's side both came to America from Germany, while my grandmother and grandfather from my father's side remain in lithuania.

    I hope you enjoyed reading!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a very good and thorough introduction. Often we get one or two words or a one phrase introduction that tells us absolutely nothing about the new member. It looks like "chicken math" has definitely taken hold at your home. All of us here at BYC have OCD (Obsessive Chicken Disorder) and very few of us are immune to chicken math.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Very nice introduction! In addition to all the chicken chatter, there is a forum for turkeys you might like to check out (if you haven't already):

With all your animal experience you'll be helpful in assisting other new members with questions. Make yourself at home here!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. My maternal grandfather was from Germany and my grandma from Poland. My paternal grandfather died before I was born, so don't know anything about him. Grandma was from Lithuania .Roosters can handle 10 hens each, so I think you need less bantam roos, or more bantam hens - otherwise hens tend to get overbred and damaged.

Thank you, That's quite interesting, as for i was only a toddler when my mother lost her father also.

Ah, But what if four of the roosters are paired up together in pairs of two? either way i'll be sure to work on getting more hens, Thanks for the info!
