I've been dreaming about owning chickens for years and finally decided to turn the dream into a reality. I love chickens because they simply make me smile and feel good. At agricultural fairs you can find me in the chicken barn with a big grin and astonished eyes in front of the more unusual breeds. I've ordered two silkie pullets and one polish pullet which will be ready for me at the end of July and in the meantime, I am researching/planning/acquiring knowledge and equipment to ensure that I can provide them with a safe, healthy home.
I already own two wonderful Papillon dogs and three awesome cats and I'm a mom to two fabulous (mostly) teenage sons. I also have a full time career in IT, luckily for a company which believes in a work-life balance.
Since Backyardchickens.com has become a regular resource for me, I decided it was time to stop being a lurker and sign up. I've already learned so much from this community and anticipate learning a lot more.
