Hello everyone! My name is Dori Triplett and I started raising chickens 2 years ago here in Southern Mississippi. I have 8 Rhode Island Reds, one of them is a rooster. I’ve hatched chicks with an incubator twice now, this most recent batch just at a week old - and going to one of my coffee shop customers today! My most favorite part of raising chickens is just watching them - they are so entertaining and taught me why so many phrases are true - like “you're chicken” or you’re afraid and so many more - none of which I can remember at this moment lol. I love hatching baby chicks - they are so cute! Will never get old. I’ve been reading and researching on this forum for 2 years when things come up - like putting aprons on my hens, etc. Unfortunately, the reason I have joined this forum today is I am currently dealing with bumblefoot on Rooster and I need some advice and support / solidarity. So glad you decided to join us! I am sorry you are dealing with bumble foot in your boy. Get it all dug out of there, apply antibiotic creams, vetcetrin is always good to use, keep it bandaged and dry. Change wraps and apply ointments every day for a couple of weeks, then if it's healing well, you can go down to changing every 3 days. Keep it wrapped until the scab falls off by itself, usually by 5 weeks.
