Hello everyone! My name is Dori Triplett and I started raising chickens 2 years ago here in Southern Mississippi. I have 8 Rhode Island Reds, one of them is a rooster. I’ve hatched chicks with an incubator twice now, this most recent batch just at a week old - and going to one of my coffee shop customers today! My most favorite part of raising chickens is just watching them - they are so entertaining and taught me why so many phrases are true - like “you're chicken” or you’re afraid and so many more - none of which I can remember at this moment lol. I love hatching baby chicks - they are so cute! Will never get old. I’ve been reading and researching on this forum for 2 years when things come up - like putting aprons on my hens, etc. Unfortunately, the reason I have joined this forum today is I am currently dealing with bumblefoot on Rooster and I need some advice and support / solidarity. So look for pics and story soon on that issue. Thanks for listening!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join us! I am sorry you are dealing with bumble foot in your boy. :hugs Get it all dug out of there, apply antibiotic creams, vetcetrin is always good to use, keep it bandaged and dry. Change wraps and apply ointments every day for a couple of weeks, then if it's healing well, you can go down to changing every 3 days. Keep it wrapped until the scab falls off by itself, usually by 5 weeks.
