Hi all. My name's Rachel and I'm new to having ducks. Hopefully I'll have ducklings soon I can add to our family. I found this forum when researching a injury my wild/adopted female got from a aggressive male. So far I love this community. Feels great to have somewhere to turn when you're just not certain on things.

(1) Are you new to ducks / when did you first get ducks?
New duck mom to 3 ducks. They became a part of our family 3 years ago when we moved here. They adopted us. Black boy was the farmers across the street. He came here within the first week of being there. So the farmer said he's yours. A few of his friends died off and he was alone. Luckily he found white boy and girlfriend. They are technically wild ducks. But they spend a lot of their day and evening at my home.

(2) How many chickens/ducks do you have right now?
I have 3 ducks. 2 males, 1 female

(3) What breeds do you have?
Unsure honestly. My female looks to be a mallard, black boy is all black with a orangish beak, white boy is all white with an orange beak.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard ducks? I love animals in general. As well as my daughter's. My dream is to have a farm one day. Technically an animal rehab. So having ducks, chickens, goats and everything else is something we have always wanted

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

hobbies I have are baking. I'm really excellent customizing cakes, cupcakes as well as making pudding cups for parties and custom orders. Baking you has always been something. That's a stress reliever for me. I'm also good at arts and crafts.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have 4 kids, 3 daughters ages 10, 12 and 19. I have a son aged 17. We also have three cats. All boys, I have a ball python, we had a albino rat but unfortunately he passed a few months back. Back. We also have two outdoor cats who have currently decided we are home. I am a school aide, and have been with my husband for over 13 years. Actually longer if you consider us in Middle School lol. We're 37 and 38 now.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I just found BYC today during a Google search. I was researching different things to help my female with a leg injury. So far this community has given me much needed information.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Nice introduction! Be careful with 2 males and 1 female, two boys can gang up on one gal and if they are near water, she can drown in all the mating aggression. 2 boys are too much for 1 girl.

Best wishes with your flock and welcome to our community!
