My fiancé and I are very new to chickens. We just moved up to Mackinaw City, MI on 5 acres and there was this perfect old tractor shed just calling out for chickens. We had always hoped to eventually get some. We managed to get the Tractor shed/coop all fixed up, and before we knew it, we had 14 six week old chicks.
They are a mix, Father: Black Copper Maran. Moms: Welsumer, Cuckoo Maran and Easter Egger. So we will see how they turn out, not sure if we have boys or girls.
I wanted to be a part of a forum where I can keep learning about this new “life style” we’ve adopted. Very excited to watch these guys and gals grow up!

You have come to the right place! We are just bursting at the seams with knowledge!

Have you stopped by our learning center yet? Lots of good articles on all the aspects of keeping poultry...

You certainly have an interesting mix of breed and colourful egg laying genes going on there! I'd love to see what these little guys are going to grow up like.

My next step is posting pics of them under.. I think the pictures & stories of my chicks page? So... Ill post them there!
The breeder I got them from said they should all be fairly dark/black with copper accents? I think they'll be great no matter what they look like :)
