hello fellow birdbrains

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan :D

My best advice would be to research and prepare yourself before you get birds, and to learn from other peoples mistakes rather than making them all over again yourself

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! There are a number of good threads on this if you want to do a search. The big three seem to be space, you will probably want more chickens than you planned and chickens are happier with more space so build bigger. Predator protection, be aware of what potential predators you have in your area and build/protect accordingly, no chicken wire is a biggie, it keeps chickens in, but is about worthless for keeping thing out. And three, be careful bringing in new/sick birds, there are contagious diseases that chickens can have that are not really curable, so if you bring in new birds quarantine, and don't let the idea of "rescuing" birds put your own at risk. A couple of threads ie,
