We just moved to the Eastern side of NC and love it! We are in a temporary home till we buy the home of our dreams. My husband is a 23+ year member of the Army National Guard. We have a 7 kid blended family. Right now all the kids are out of the house and we just have our 8 year old. I'm the chicken enthusiast and love raising my gals. We love being able to raise some of our own food and have a say of how they get treated and how they get fed. We used to keep them on 6+ acres (free range) that belonged to my in-laws and back in those days had somewhere around 30+ birds. We ate, sold and shared our eggs. We also raised meat birds and our own turkeys.
We are looking for our dream house that we can live in and retire, we need a place where we can be backyard farmers.
