i have used byc when i was looking up questions and facts off and on and i noticed that i was going to this site for all my questions now! so i decided that it must be time that add my little farm on here ^-^ i have found the love of chickens and was so happy to start my flock and receive my first eggs. and i found out the hard way that you cant just get one! im happy to see such well knowledgeable people coming together to help one another. i am very grateful to you all for your advice and help. well here is a few pictures of my babies! im so proud of them!
this is Swirl, she is a young Americana(will be laying next spring) and is the head honcho of our flock. she is even crowing now

this is little Anna, our buff. she is the same age as Swirl. eats everything in site i sware!

this is Rosie Cotton our little cochin girl. (and thats me) she is still young.

this was the best picture we could get of Elfen Lied. she is a mix of three different species; she and Rosie are inseparable, and has the longest legs i have ever seen!

our little leghorn. we still havent named her yet. you cant see them here but she has a few black spots in her feathers!

this is Stumpy! she is our pride and joy! we rescued her from slaughter two months ago. her feet froze off last winter and he was going to eat her if she didnt get sold. she still lays fine and is happy as can be. that was the first day we got her (picture above), this is her now (below) if anyone can identify her breed it would be much appreciated! she lays white eggs.
and a picture of her stumps!

this is Cleo and Mango, our oldest, barred rocks. mango has the stumpy tail, she was mauled a bit by our new pup. these two were hatch mate and are now inseparable. they are about 2 now.

this is Lillith our Ebden goose. she is still a bit young, but im hoping she will be happy here. we also rescued her from a swap meet. she has a split webbing on one foot and she finally got herself white again instead of mud brown. sweetest little thing in the world.

these are our growing ducklings. they are still too young to graze yet so they are stuck in the pen for now. that is Willow, the Rouen, and Svetlanna the moscovy.

nice looking flock

Welcome to BYC! As you've already discovered, you will find lots of useful information on this site. Thanks for the pics and good luck with your flock.

Hello and good luck with your flock!I am confused on the info you gave on Swirl or the first pic posted. You say it crows and should lay in the spring. To me it looks like a male Easter Egger. I am not an expert though. The red shoulders are a sign of a male. Also the comb looks like there are three rows to it. Can you please discuss this more?

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Stumpy is one lucky chicken, nice of you to take her in and take care of her, she is really lucky to have you as an owner. You might want to post pictures of your flock in the What Breed/Gender forum, https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this X2 Swirl is a male Easter Egger and Elfen Lied looks like a rooster also, depending on the age some of the others may be also.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

You have a lovely flock! Enjoy them and welcome to ours!

Swirl is a boy on 3 counts, the red comb, the red on wings AND he crows. I do think the white one is also because of the red comb - just not as developed at this time.
